Round 7 Preview

In the final round of the One Day Fixtures, only one spot remains up for grabs to make the four, with The Darwin Cricket Club hosting Southern Districts Cricket Club. Palmerston Cricket Club could drop to fourth if they lose and Eagles or Crocs have a big win, Waratah Warriors Cricket Club should account for Tracy Village Cricket Club with a bonus point to cement a home final.

In B grade Nightcliff Cricket Club with the bye should hold on to top spot while Waratah will be on equal points accounting for TV. Palmerston beat PINT Cricket Club and they will cement fourth spot at the very least and maybe slide into third if Darwin lose to Southern Districts.
For those unaware next weekend is a finals weekend with semi finals played on the Saturday and Grand Final the Sunday. While the semi finals are a good thing, the fixtures could easily be played over a couple of Sundays like how pretty much all Premier Cricket competitions run.

Tracy Village v Waratah

Tracy Village’s batting has always seen them around the two hundred mark, however their bowling has struggled to take wickets besides their one win against PINT where they took all 10, with their other four fixtures seeing only 16 dismissals. They will be unlikely to dislodge too much of Waratah’s top order with Koduru and Lotesh looking the goods. It will take a big effort from Ansh Tiwary to get them anywhere near a defendable total, if they bowl first, anything less than five wickets in the first twenty overs will see them chasing over 250. Waratah to win.

Palmerston v PINT

Palmerston will be confident going up against PINT whose wheels have come off after knocking off Southern Districts. The Power are starting to look a formidable side with the top order firing and an all-round bowling department. PINT on the other hand have lacked penetration with the new ball leaving the spinners with plenty of work. Farzan and Poulton have been consistent with the bat but have not gone on. More is needed from Edmondstone and Gamage and this round presents an opportunity to play some fearless cricket in readiness for two-day competition. Palmerston to continue their winning ways.

Darwin v Southern Districts

The Crocs have the wood over the Eagles in recent years, and tomorrow will be no different. Darwin rely on their top four to produce the goods, as found out last round, dismissing Dickman cheaply goes a long way to winning the match and at this stage he hasn’t been named, so the job maybe half done (which highlights a surprising item on their team list and a first for them, not one locally born or junior featuring in the Eagles line up). The Crocs on the other hand have seven locals which have all won first premierships, batting depth coming out their ass and more spin options than John Burgess. Crocs to have sung the song be at Bass in the Grass by 4pm.
