Round 2 Round Up

Nightcliff 230 defeated Palmerston 198

Nightcliff posted a competitive total of 230 runs, largely thanks to the efforts of Carroll, who scored a brisk 65 from 51 balls, and Hoogenboezem who added 42. Although they did not replicate their previous week's century stand, they provided a strong start. Thakkar, on his debut, was the standout bowler for Palmerston, claiming four wickets, including both openers and finishing with impressive figures of 4 for 44. James Doherty contributed a crucial 51 to keep Nightcliff's innings steady amidst a middle-order struggle. Palmerston's chase was anchored by Firman and Montague, but despite their efforts, they fell short by 32 runs, ending at 198. Local Nick Fleming was particularly effective with the ball for Nightcliff, taking 4 for 36.

Waratah 4 for 314 defeated PINT 9 for 256

Waratah dominated with the bat at Gardens Oval, setting a daunting total of 314 for the loss of just four wickets. This was set up by stellar innings from Koduru and debutant Lokesh, who scored 135* and 132 respectively, and shared a massive 253-run partnership for the third wicket. PINT, in their chase, could only manage 256 for 9, with Caderamanpulle providing a late highlight, scoring an unbeaten 94 from 69 balls. The early loss of Edmondstone and regular wickets meant that PINT was always behind the asking rate.

Tracy Village 8 for 219 defeated by Darwin 2 for 221.

Tracy Village faced a challenging outing, setting a target of 219 after batting first, with significant contributions from Gregory Francis (43) and Captain Doyle (64). However, their bowling lacked potency, which Darwin capitalized on, reaching the target with ease for the loss of just two wickets. Adi Dave, on debut for Darwin, took 3 for 36, showcasing his potential as a valuable player. Dickman (56) and Jamieson (92* not out) were key in Darwin’s comfortable chase, with Kerber (63* not out) seeing them over the line.
